Inventions!

Despite the deprivation of the 1930s, several inventions were discovered and patented. Among these various inventions are the FM radio invented by Edwin Howard Armstrong in 1933, television invented by Philo Farnsworth in 1934, first antibiotic created in 1939, and commercial helicopters used first in 1939. These, of course, affected the era, but the impacts of these inventions still affect our present society.

The FM radio greatly affected the world. It was a new and exciting discovery that encouraged individuals, as well as large, family gatherings to listen. The poor, particularly, looked forward to daily broadcastings of information and music. The FM radio is still utilized today, which portrays the lasting effect it has had on the world.

The television was invented in the late 1930s, so it was never widely used during the era. A television was a rare luxury. For the majority of America, the radio replaced television. However, the invention is obviously one of the most successful inventions ever created. Almost every home has at least one and some homes have several.

The commercial helicopter! Perhaps one of the most surprising inventions ever created. Man can finally fly and not because it is natural, but thanks to studious work and tedious efforts. Now that hard work can be put to good use with commercial helicopters.  

These various inventions that were able to improve the life of those in the 1930s, have since then progressed and continue to progress. There comes a sense of pride when a new discovery surfaces. Whether it is completely new or an improvement it is a cause of excitement. We are always searching for something new, because not only pride, but also awe is evoked. And not only for a small while but for decades to come.
