Literature in the 1990s
            During the 1990s kids were really getting into video games. With all this technology quickly developing kids weren’t focused on reading. All kids wanted to do was go home and sit down on the couch and play.  There were still a couple of authors like Dav Pilkey and R.L Stine that didn’t give up on kids. Authors like these wrote children books that kids actually wanted to read. They would try to write books that grabbed and entertained little kids so they would not get tired of reading.
            There were some authors that were really known for their books. Author R.L. Stine, an American novelist and writer was known as the “ Stephen King of Literature.” R.L. Stine is the author of dozens of horror fiction novellas. He impacted many kids with his novellas. Kids really enjoyed the books he wrote. Most kids would read Goosebumps. These books would really entertain and actually grab the reader’s attention. R.L. Stine was not the only author that had a huge impact in literature their were many others.
            Author Dav Pilkey was another grate author of the 90s. He is a popular children’s author and artist. He is best known as the author of the Captain Underpants series. When the first book of captain underpants came out kids went crazy for it. Kids were obsessed with this book. It is a book about two forth grade kids and his imaginary hero. Kids really liked this book. To this day kids are still reading thee books. He won many awards for this book and is most recognized as the author of the book Captain Underpants.
            Authors like R.L. Stine and Dav Pilkey really impacted literature and kids. Kids actually enjoy reading their books. Test scores showed kids who read got better scores than kids who did not read. If you ever want to get a kid to read show them a Captain Underpants or Goosebumps book and I assure you that they will enjoy it.
